The Eagles made a splash ahead of the NFL trade deadline and sent a third round pick to Miami for Dolphins edge defender Jaelan Phillips. He’ll bring some much needed pass rush help to Philly’s defense and will reunite with defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.
The reactions have been mixed, but with news that the Dolphins are also still paying most of Phillips’ remaining 2025 salary, the deal looks even better for Howie Roseman and Co. Depth among the edge rushers was pretty thin, and Phillips gives the Eagles an extra body and a potential long term option — the LB is only 26 years old.
Ultimately, Phillips’ injury history is concerning, but his potential is there and it’s a relatively low risk move considering the cost. Plus, if Fangio said he wanted Phillips, it was a good move by the Eag
