ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - The City of Rock Island will hold two public listening sessions to hear feedback on a proposed urban agriculture ordinance.

The first session is at 5:30 p.m. Monday in council chambers at Rock Island City Hall on the third floor, according a media release.

The second session is at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 1 also at Rock Island City Hall, the release said.

The city said the proposed ordinance aims to:

encourage urban agriculture and affirm residents’ right to produce their own food

prevent conflicts between neighbors and ensure activities are well-maintained

provide clear standards for upkeep and enforcement when problems occur

City staff want to get more community input before presenting the ordinance to city council again, the city said.
