A massive torch rally swept through Moran, situated between Dibrugarh and Charaideo districts, as members of the Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad, Assam (TAYPA) and its supporters reignited their long-standing demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status and autonomous governance.

The rally, organised by the Central Committee of TAYPA in collaboration with the Tai Ahom Mahila Parishad and local residents, commenced from Ushapur Playground, winding through the town’s key routes before culminating at the same venue.

Resonating with fiery chants such as “Jaagega Ahom, Jaagega Hi” (Ahom Will Rise, It Surely Will), “No ST, No Rest”, “No ST, No Vote”, “We May Die but We Will Secure Tribal Status”, and “Down with BJP”, the protestors made their sentiments clear, amplifying the call for recognition and justice
