Shillong, Nov 3: The Meghalaya High Court has directed the state government to submit a fresh status report on pending cases against MPs and MLAs.
The order was passed by a bench headed by Justice HS Thangkhiew while hearing a PIL. A previous status report filed following the court's September 2, 2025 order revealed that out of three cases in East Khasi Hills, one has been disposed of while two remain pending.
The number of pending cases remains unchanged in West Garo Hills and West Jaintia Hills, with two cases each. In North Garo Hills, a case involving a former MLA is still at the evidence stage.
The court directed the state government to obtain specific instructions on the case and submit a fresh report by December 13, 2025 .
