A Fairfield man suffered serious injuries when he was involved in a crash on Route 8 in Shelton and the car burst into flames, according to state police.
They said the 36-year-old was driving a 2021 BWM M5 on Route 8 North around 12:46 p.m. on Saturday, went off the road, hit the guardrail on the right shoulder and the car caught fire.

Then, the car crossed over to the left and hit the metal guardrail in the median, according to the preliminary information state police have.
They said the driver sustained traumatic lower leg injuries and he was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital.
State police are investigating and they ask witnesses and anyone with a dash camera who was in the area to call Trooper Miko at Troop I, at
