Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg announced the city's main public library branch will close for at least a year starting Dec. 1 as a construction crew work on renovations inside of the building.
The decision to close the Main Library came after discussions contractors for the project uncovered "new issues" that would make the renovations unsafe for visitors, Greenberg said during his weekly media briefing Nov. 2.
"Now let me be clear, this was the absolute last thing I or anyone else wanted to do," he said. "But after we questioned the contractors about other alternatives, it became very clear that this was the only prudent option."
Renovations of the Main Library are already underway, with part of the building closed to the public because of crews working there. The library is adding
