VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Virginia Beach man died after his e-bike crashed, Virginia Beach police said.

The accident happened around 6 p.m. on Friday, October 31, in the 1000 block of Cypress Avenue. Authorities said that based on a preliminary investigation, 47-year-old David German was driving northbound on his dirt bike-style e-bike when it ran off the roadway and struck a light pole.

German was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the VBPD Traffic Safety Unit.
