President Donald Trump’s administration said on Monday that it would partially fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) this month.
The government fulfilled its Monday deadline to provide an update in federal court on whether it would comply with an order to resume funding for SNAP benefits, the nation’s largest food aid program.
In a filing, the Trump administration said that it would use emergency funding to cover “50% of eligible households’ current allotments” for the nearly 42 million Americans who receive food stamps, The New York Times reported.
