ONA- The high school cross country season came to a close on Saturday with the Class AAAA state meet in Ona, and two local runners led the way with a pair of fourth-place finishes.
On the boys side, Spring Mills' Isaiah Griffin was the highest finisher locally, placing fourth with a time of 16 minutes, 12.83 seconds, behind champion Micah Gainer (15:56.16) of University, the Hawks' Ethan Conroy (15:59.63) and Morgantown's Joaquin Summers (16:05.25). The rest of the top 10 included Woodrow Wilson's Kyle Peters (16:14.48) in fifth, Cabell Midland's Dylan Dial (16:14.53) in sixth, University's Logan Conroy (16:15.78) in seventh, Parkersburg's Connor George (16:17.90) in eighth, Wheeling Park's Rylan Moore (16:23.56) and Jefferson's Shane Burkhardt (16:34.25) in 10th.
