A beloved theme park has welcomed guests for the last time.
Six Flags America in Maryland officially closed when its 2025 season ended on Sunday, prompting sadness from fans who visited the 131-acre park over its 51 years in operation.
“Thank you for 50 years of family fun,” read a statement on the park’s official Instagram .
Six Flags chain announced in May that it would be closing the park along with Hurricane Harbor Maryland, a water park that closed in September.
Six Flags President & CEO Richard A. Zimmerman said previously that the parks were “not a strategic fit with the company’s long-term growth plan” and that the company will be “marketing the property for redevelopment.”
