BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern County Coroner's Office identified a 58-year-old man who was using a wheelchair when he was struck by a vehicle on O Street on Thursday.

Officials said Darryl Ray Mick, 58, of Bakersfield was found on Thursday around 6:30 a.m. Mick was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver who struck Mick fled the scene.

According to investigators, the driver was traveling north on O Street at a high rate of speed when the vehicle struck the man crossing outside a crosswalk in a wheelchair.

This is an ongoing investigation.
