Two kayakers disappeared on Nov. 1 while kayaking in New York

One of the kayakers, 27-year-old Shane Garcia, was found dead on Nov. 2

The other kayaker, 25-year-old Aaron Montemarano, remains missing

One of two missing kayakers has been found dead after the pair disappeared while out on the water in New York.

Shane Garcia, 27, and Aaron Montemarano, 25, were reported missing by Garcia’s girlfriend on the night of Saturday, Nov. 1, after he did not return from kayaking earlier in the day, according to a news release from the Southampton Town Police Department.

Garcia sent a selfie to his girlfriend of himself with Montemarano while they were kayaking at Shinnecock Bay near Ponquogue Bridge on Saturday.

Garcia’s work van was found parked at the end of Shinnecock Avenue
