CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) -- Restaurants and organizations across Central Illinois have worked to help feed those in need during the government shutdown. And in Champaign County, United Way is stepping up with a big donation.
United Way of Champaign County has finished this season's Farmers Feeding Families Harvest and will be investing $20,000 from the harvest to help feed local families. This year, however, they're asking the community to match that amount.
United Way's contribution will be distributed to the Eastern Illinois Foodbank, Community Service Center of Northern Champaign County, Feeding Our Kids, Centennial High School Pantry and Tiger Market at Urbana High School. They're hoping that if the community matches that donation -- dollar for dollar -- they'll double the impac
