WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - An investigation into a Sept. 11 incident involving use-of-force at a local hospital led to a misdemeanor charge against a Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputy.

The Wichita Police Department reported completing the investigation that led the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office to charge Deputy Brett Anderson with one count of misdemeanor battery for reportedly striking a handcuffed man several times “during an encounter.”

The WPD said Deputy Anderson is a six-year veteran of the sheriff’s office and that he “was immediately placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal case.”
