BURLINGTON, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - Following discussions between Vermont Governor Phil Scott and Burlington Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak that eventually led to the creation of a 14-point plan to address public safety challenges in Burlington, state troopers are now patrolling the city's downtown.
Vermont State Police cruisers were parked on Church Street over the weekend, and state troopers were in the area, including in nearby City Hall Park.
"The Church Street Marketplace in Burlington looks pretty good with some extra green and gold!" wrote VSP on social media Monday.
Law enforcement from Vermont DMV as well as the Department of Liquor and Lottery are also assisting local Burlington police.
According to VSP, they will be downtown every day from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. through the end of 2025.
