BEAUMONT, Texas — As Election Day nears, Beaumont voters will decide on five bond propositions that could shape the city’s future, including one that would expand Riverfront Park and breathe new life into downtown.
Proposition D sets aside $12.5 million to extend the park all the way to Main Street. City leaders say the goal is to bring life back to downtown Beaumont.
Assistant City Manager Chris Boone said the city wants to transform the park into a more active space. “The restored Riverfront Park as we see it now is, I would say, passive,” Boone said. “So the idea would be to add some more active amenities like amphitheater, like playground, like splash pad.”
