EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - This situation has had many scrambling to figure out what they were going to with the loss of SNAP.
The Evansville Rescue Mission held a news conference to announce their plans on how to help.
Our Emma Beck was there and spoke to officials about the increase in need they’ve already seen.
To help combat the loss heading into the holiday season, they announced Monday an additional 200 Gobbler Gathering boxes.
This is their annual program where they give away Thanksgiving meal preparation boxes.
They had planned for 2,300 boxes this year, but now that number is 2,500 as community need has only grown.
They are leaning on the Evansville community to help make this a possibility.
