HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) - In Henderson, the Daniel Pitino Homeless Coalition hosted a food giveaway at Hays Boat Ramp.

To help those affected by the government shutdown and its impact on SNAP benefits, they gathered to prepare 100 food bags for people.

The food they’re giving away was donated by a range of people and organizations wanting to help out.

The giveaway included cans of food, bread, and many other essentials.

Organizers say they’re eager to help the community.

They say they’re planning to have another food pickup later this month.
