A former Steelton Borough detective is suing the police department claiming it retaliated against her for requesting accommodations for injuries she suffered after the department’s trained K-9 attacked her at the shooting range in 2022.

Dory Martin says Steelton Borough Police Chief William Shaub threatened to demote her if she didn’t return to work fast enough, and the hostility and antagonism that accompanied her requests for accommodation eventually forced her to resign.

Martin tried to rescind the resignation before it had been accepted, but instead of letting her do so, the borough required her to use her sick time instead temporary disability benefits she says she was entitled to, according to the lawsuit filed Friday.

The borough also refused to allow her to cash out her 669.94 h
