Nominations for the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department annual holiday decoration contest are open now.

Residents and businesses are invited to participate in the 29th Annual Lights, Sights and Holiday Nights home and business decorating contest — the nomination process runs through Dec. 5.

Awards will be presented to decorated locations in several categories, with the winners being recognized at the Jan. 6 City Council meeting and on the City's social media channels.

Pre-judging will begin on Dec. 8, with the final judging on Dec. 11 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The winners will be included in the City's digital map guiding the community to festive displays around town, as will as featured stops on the Holiday Trolley Tours departing from the Machado Plaza Holiday Market on Dec. 13.
