SCOTIA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Trump administration said it will partially fund SNAP benefits, but it could still be delayed weeks or even months. Locally, questions remain about how people will receive their food benefits.
According to the Schenectady Community Action Program, about 21,000 people, including 22 percent of all children in the county, relay on SNAP assistance. Emergency food providers, farmers, and elected leaders gathered on Monday to call for urgent action from both federal and state officials.
They urged the government to ensure everyone continues to have access to the benefits they depend on.
