FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Some help is on the way for Arkansas families who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

President Donald Trump said on Monday that his administration is working to at least partially fund SNAP while the government shutdown continues. Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced last week that the state will split $500,000 among six different food banks across Arkansas.

"In the form of food credits, which will allow them to distribute more food. They can purchase additional foods for our mobile and pantries and restock our low inventory items that we might have," Kent Eikenberry, CEO of the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, said.
