NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Metro Nashville Police Department is investigating after a train struck and killed a pedestrian.

Police said the wreck happened Monday afternoon at the Bell Road overpass. That update comes after a spokesperson for MNPD initially reported the crash being between a vehicle and train.

Here are instructions on how to watch WSMV4 live on various platforms.

Police later said the train struck a pedestrian who was walking on the tracks.

“The conductor said the pedestrian was walking on the tracks facing away from the train,” a message from MNPD said. “He said the horn sounded multiple times, but the person stayed on the tracks.”

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
