OMAHA, Neb. —

After a 5,000-mile journey, this pool is ready to welcome swimmers.

"The pool was built in Italy, and it is the same style of pool that the Olympics use," Elizabeth Power, Westside director of communication and engagement, said. "The way the water works in this pool is going to reduce turbulence for our student-athletes."

It'll open just in time for swim season. The pool is a part of the Westside Life Complex — a new fitness center not just for the school's student-athletes. There's a new gym that will be used for AP testing.

"We're able to have enough space that we can have all those desks," Power said.

There's a multi-purpose area that will possibly be used for indoor band rehearsals.

"Anybody can come in here and utilize this space," Power said.
