TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Honor Flight Southern Arizona has completed its 35 th trip to D.C., giving veterans a chance to see some of the memorials and monuments that mark their sacrifices.
There was thunderous applause as the three Korean War and 20 Vietnam War veterans made it home to Tucson International Airport.
And for many, like Vietnam War veteran Edgar Lytle, it was long overdue.
“Some of us came back and we weren’t real happy when we came back,” Lytle said. “This really took the place of all the pain we had.”
Jesus Martinez, another Vietnam veteran, said seeing the wall in person meant a lot to him, especially because he had friends who died while he was there.
And he didn’t realize just how many people appreciate the sacrifices they made, until now.
