TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Tucson's Transit Advisory Committee heard more details on Tucson’s transit safety action plan Monday as staff prepare to present a plan to city leaders in the coming weeks.
Tucson City Council and Mayor Regina Romero asked staff last month to return with a “Transit Safety Action Plan” within 60 days. The request followed several recent violent incidents involving Sun Tran.
"It's pretty scary these days, there's a lot of unkempt people kind of like nodding off asleep, and you have to be careful not to wake them up, they get mad," Joanne Redding, a rider for more than a decade, told News 4 Tucson.
However, other riders feel secure on public transit.
