BRISTOL, Conn. (WFSB) - Voters will encounter new voting technology when they head to the polls Tuesday, as the state rolls out updated tabulators designed to be more secure and reliable.
Polls opened across the state at 6 a.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m. Voters who are in line by 8 p.m. will be able to cast their ballots.
More than 190,000 people cast their ballots during the 14-day early voting period that ended Sunday.
The Secretary of the State said local election seasons typically see very low turnout.
In 2023’s local election, only 3 in 10 registered voters cast their ballots.
That compares to an average of 8 in 10 voters coming out during presidential elections.
