New Delhi: Tesla is reshaping its India strategy with a fresh face at the top. The American electric carmaker has hired Sharad Agarwal, former head of Lamborghini India, as its new country head; a move seen as Tesla’s attempt to finally get serious about the Indian market after a rather slow start.
Agarwal, who officially joins Tesla this week, will lead local operations and take charge of the company’s renewed push to build a stronger foothold in India as per a Bloomberg report. His appointment marks a shift from Tesla’s earlier remote management model, where local operations were handled from China and other regional hubs. This time, the company wants an on-ground leader who understands India’s complex auto market.
