IOWA CITY — While having all things run smoothly is every coach’s season-opening dream, reality tends to spit out a blend of promising and problematic. That’s exactly what Jan Jensen got from her Iowa women’s basketball squad on night one.

The Hawkeyes’ 85-51 win over Southern inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Nov. 3 offered little drama on the scoreboard — but still enough to correct as this young team pushes through the non-conference slate. That type of mix offers more than enough for Jensen to work with moving forward.
