BUCK TWP. — A resident of Buck Township was the victim of a scam where he was tricked into paying $20,000 or face arrest.

Pennsylvania State Police at Wilkes-Barre reported the victim attempted to make a purchase over the phone when told his credit card needed to be replaced. The victim was advised he had fraudulent accounts in different states and had to pay a fee or be arrested, state police reported.

The victim paid $20,000 fearing he would be arrested.

State police advise the public to be cognizant of scams.
