NEW LONDON, Wis. (WFRV) - The American Red Cross is now helping two New London families after a fire on Monday morning may have left a duplex a total loss.
According to a release from the New London Fire Department, crews responded at 3:01 p.m. to reports of a fire in the garage of a duplex on the 600 block of East Pine Street.
Upon arrival, officials said they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from one of the two garages at the center of the duplex, with the roof already caving in on a vehicle inside.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the vehicle and garage fire before it burned into the living area on both sides of the duplex. Both living areas did still receive smoke damage and there was extensive damage to the garage and roof as well , with the duplex possibly being a total loss.
