Bomb threats reported at New Jersey polling sites

(NewsNation) — Bomb threats were reported at multiple voting locations across New Jersey as Election Day kicked off, authorities said.

Lt. Gov. Tahesha Way said on social media that law enforcement determined there were no credible threats as of Tuesday morning.

"We are doing everything in our power to protect voters and poll workers and encourage every eligible voter to exercise their right to vote," she wrote.

According to NewsNation affiliate WPIX, threats were received at polling places in Bergen, Essex, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean and Passaic counties. Some locations reopened after the threats were found to be false, while voters at others were told to go elsewhere to cast their votes.
