CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) — More than four dozen animals were removed from an apartment building connected to the suspicious death of a woman in Central Falls.
Staff members with the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) responded to 382 Central St. on Monday.
RISPCA President Wayne Kezirian said there were about 46 cats and at least four puppies living in "terrible condition" in the apartment. He said there was feces strewn about, the place reeked of ammonia, and the animals didn't have access to food and water.
"This is as bad as any that I have personally responded to," Kezirian added.
According to Kezirian, RISPCA was called in since Central Falls doesn't have an animal shelter and Pawtucket's shelter was full at the time.
