ATLANTA — The City of Atlanta has won its case after filing a lawsuit against Fulton and DeKalb counties, seeking a judge's order to keep polling locations open for an extra hour on Election Day.
The lawsuit came just one day before voters across metro Atlanta will head to the polls and cast their ballots for several important races . Voters in the city will be casting ballots for Atlanta mayor, city council president and all council district seats.
Georgians statewide will be casting their ballot for the important, long-delayed special election for two Public Service Commission seats, which have been tied up in court .
According to current guidance from the Georgia Secretary of State's Office, polls in Fulton and DeKalb counties were scheduled to close at 7 p.m. However, city offic
