SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — A lot of eyes are on the South Fulton mayor race as current Mayor Khalid 'Kobi' Kamau is running for re-election.
Kamau has frequently been in the public spotlight for a range of reasons, including an unusual 2023 trespassing arrest. He was charged with criminal trespassing, which stemmed from accusations of breaking into a private lake house in 2023. Kamau pleaded not guilty to the criminal charge in September. The day before Election Day, his new attorney represented him in court for a case management hearing. He is now expected to appear back in court for a final plea on Nov. 18.
He and his supporters claim the charge was politically motivated.
