Mumbai, Nov 4: The Maharashtra Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure, chaired by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, on Tuesday approved the extension of the ambitious Uttan–Virar sea link up to the upcoming Vadhavan Port in Palghar district, marking a major step in the state’s efforts to decongest Mumbai’s road network and enhance coastal connectivity.
Announcing the decision, Fadnavis said the project is part of a broader initiative to ease traffic on key routes such as the Western Express Highway, SV Road, and Link Road. “We are expanding multiple infrastructure projects to make Mumbai’s transport seamless and future-ready,” he said.
The proposed Uttan–Virar Sea Bridge will span 55.12 km, with the main sea bridge covering 24.35 km. The project includes
