The Western Hoolock Gibbon is India’s only ape species and plays a critical role in maintaining forest ecology through seed dispersal.

In a remarkable act of compassion and commitment to wildlife conservation, the A’chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) Headquarters, in coordination with its Dainadubi Regional Unit and the Sonja Wildlife Rescue Team, successfully rescued a Western Hoolock Gibbon from Balmikram Village, near Dainadubi, North Garo Hills.

The rescue operation was carried out after receiving information that a female Western Hoolock Gibbon (Hoolock hoolock) had been living under the care of a local family for nearly 13 years.
