Two major Emporia construction projects, improvements to the Overlander Road and the Southeast Transmission Main line project, continue to progress forward this week.
The Overlander Road improvement project, now in its first few weeks of construction, will convert the two-lane road system with ditches, from W Sixth Avenue to US-Highway 50, into a three-lane roadway with a center turn lane, storm sewer, curb, and gutter. The project will replace an over 90-year-old Reinforced Concrete Bridge (RCB) along Sixth Avenue at Overland Park. A 12-inch water mainline will also be replaced to serve Industrial Park II. Ubert said that Overlander Road improvements are currently moving forward according to plan.
