NASCAR star Tyler Reddick has shared a “promising” update on his son, Rookie, who recently underwent surgery due to a tumor.

Reddick shared the update Saturday at Phoenix Raceway ahead of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Championship.

“For the most part, he’s a lot healthier, which is good,” Tyler Reddick said, according to NBC Sports . “Still have some things to sort out in regards to some of the things that he’s been fighting. But the for the most part, it looks promising.”

Reddick’s wife, Alexa, announced last month that Rookie was going to have to have a kidney removed because it was no longer functioning.
