The Yuma County Public Health Services District has confirmed two mosquito-borne illness cases among local residents, one involving dengue fever and the other West Nile virus.
Both cases were verified through laboratory testing, health officials announced on Monday.
The district’s Vector Control staff continue to monitor mosquito activity through trapping and treatment in affected areas.
“Residents are the first line of defense against mosquito-borne diseases,” the agency said in a statement. “Everyone should regularly check their homes and yards for standing water where mosquitoes can breed.”
Common breeding sites include flowerpots, gutters, debris and birdbaths. Officials also urge residents to report potential mosquito breeding areas or related concerns to the Health Department.
