FERANDINA BEACH, Fla. (WCJB) - A football player from Bell High School faces charges after he attacked another player during a game in Fernandina Beach on Friday.
Fernandina Beach Police Department announced on Tuesday that officers have secured an arrest warrant for Daniel Byers, 18, a Bell High School student, on the charge of battery.
During a game on Halloween, officers say Byers pushed and removed the helmet of a 15-year-old Fernandina Beach High School player. Byers then struck the other player in the head with the helmet.
Video posted on social media appears to show the attack during the game.
Officers say they quickly intervened to separate those involved, and Bell High School players were escorted off Amelia Island.
The investigation remains ongoing, officers say.
