Authorities won’t file charges in a West Bloomfield Township house fire that claimed three children earlier this year, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald announced Monday.

McDonald said the Feb. 2 fire that claimed Hannah, Jeremiah and Jacob Oliora, ages 16, 14 and 12, respectively, was a tragedy and not a crime.

A search warrant affidavit showed that Jeremiah had autism and was nonverbal. The children’s parents, Don and Liz Oliora, had installed window locks and an interior front door lock in an effort to keep him from leaving the home unsupervised, which he had done before, according to the documents.

Authorities said Jacob also had autism.
