YOUNGSTOWN A judge set bond at $750,000 for Jack Sheetz during his arraignment in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday. Sheetz faces one count of rape and two counts of kidnapping stemming from an alleged assault that took place in Canfield in 2000.
Sheetz, 57, appeared before Judge Maureen A. Sweeney after being transferred to Mahoning County Jail following his arrest by U.S. Marshals in Akron. He was indicted by a Mahoning County Grand Jury on three felony counts: one count of rape and two counts of kidnapping.
Sheetz is the long-sought-after suspect in a rape and baseball bat attack on a 30-year-old woman outside business offices on North Broad Street.
