WASHINGTON — A bomb threat forced passengers on a United Airlines flight arriving at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) to evacuate on Tuesday.
The entire airport was placed on a ground stop as emergency crews approached the plane and worked to bus passengers to the airport.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed the threat Tuesday afternoon, saying that the flight landed "safely" at DCA. According to the FBI Washington Field Office, "no hazards were found" on the flight.
'We have an unconfirmed bomb report'
Air traffic controllers could be heard communicating with United Flight 512, arriving into DCA Houston, about an "unconfirmed bomb threat," at around 11:30 a.m., ordering the plane to turn around, according to audio obtained from LiveATC.net.
