MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Changes are coming to the way the Shelby County Community Services Agency helps residents with utility assistance, and many seniors without computers or internet access could be left behind.
The program helps thousands keep the lights on thanks to millions of dollars in federal funding, but that funding is also in limbo during the shutdown.
Dana Brooks, Executive Director of the agency, told Alex Coleman on WREG’s "3 at 3" last week that while they knew some adjustments were coming, the scope of these changes caught them off guard.
“Well, we were a little surprised,” Brooks said. “We knew changes were coming simply because funding has kind of decreased since COVID. They had given us a little bit of warning as far as program requirements and prioritization, things like
