WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Sedgwick County sheriff's deputy is facing a criminal charge in connection with his use of force.

The Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday that it his charged Deputy Brett Anderson with one count of misdemeanor battery.

On Sept. 11, police allege that Anderson hit a handcuffed man several times at a local hospital.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office reviewed body camera footage, then requested that the Wichita Police Department investigate.

Anderson, who has been with the sheriff's office for six years, was placed on administrative leave. In addition to the criminal investigation, the sheriff's office will conduct an internal review.
