(Gray News/AP) – President Trump made a post on social media Tuesday morning saying the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits will only be given out when the federal government shutdown ends.

“SNAP BENEFITS … will be given only when the Radical Left Democrats open up government, which they can easily do, and not before!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social .

This post comes on the heels of the Trump administration announcing Monday that it will partially fund SNAP after a pair of judges’ rulings required it to keep the food aid program running.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, which oversees SNAP, had planned to freeze payments starting Nov. 1 because it said it could no longer keep funding it during the federal government shutdown .
