MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is calling on the public for help with an ongoing research project.
The organization announced Tuesday that it is encouraging the community to report any sightings of black bear den locations across the state.
The research project is ongoing and focuses on black bear reproduction in the state.
The study, known as the Black Bear Litter and Diet Survey , is entering its fifth year and will “generate new estimates of black bear reproductive rates within each of the state’s bear management zones,” the DNR explained.
The estimates are expected to improve accuracy of black bear population models in the zones.
