(WFRV) - The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is asking Wisconsin residents to report black bear den locations to help with an ongoing study on bear reproduction and diet.

According to a press release from the DNR, the Black Bear Litter and Diet Survey is now in its fifth year and focuses on improving population estimates, especially in central and southern Wisconsin.

The study also examines how access to human food sources may be affecting reproduction and club survival.

The DNR says anyone who finds a bear den is encouraged to report it while keeping at least 30 yards away. Public reports are essential because they help researchers collect accurate data and guide future management decisions.
