Rick Pitino has a message for high-profile North Carolina transfer Ian Jackson: “Stop just giving the ball away.”

“He does it once every practice, once every game,” the St. John’s coach told reporters after his No. 5 Red Storm dominated Quinnipiac, 108-74, on opening night at Carnesecca Arena.

The Bronx native and former McDonald’s All-American out of Cardinal Hayes High School went for 15 points with 2 turnovers in the game.

“He just comes down the floor and for no rhyme or reason, he gives the other team the ball,” Pitino said. “He does it every practice and every game. He did it tonight.”

Pitino continued with his advice to Jackson: “You’re wearing a white jersey, don’t give it to the red jersey.”
